COLTS NECK, NJ - July 30, 2013: Doctor Timothy Harris of Colts Neck, NJ will be racing next week in the NYC SEA Paddle event to raise funds for children with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, Cancer, Spinal Cord Injuries, and other physical & developmental challenges.
Harris is a former Division I swimmer (Rutgers) and three time United States Lifesaving Association Nation Champion (former Sea Girt Lifeguard) and local Physical Therapist will compete in the 25-mile journey with some of the best Standup Paddlers in the world.
The 25-mile charity paddle that includes an elite race and a shorter, 5-mile course — will kick off on August 9th with registration at 7:30 a.m. at the Brooklyn Bridge Beach. Paddlers, or teams, each raise a minimum of $1,000 with all proceeds given to the Paddle’s beneficiaries, which include POAC, Autism Family Services of New Jersey, Surfers Healing, Best Day Foundation, The Shore Center and Virginia Autism Project. In addition to supporting those with autism, SEA Paddle NYC will also benefit the Alliance’s environmental efforts and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts this year.
“As the world fastest growing watersport begins to take foothold on the east coast the turnouts for events like this will only help drive awareness for the magical things that happen with charities like the Best Day Foundation and Surfers Healing. It is all about the monumental breakthroughs these children and families have at events run by these charities that make the hairs on the back of your neck standup. You just know something greater than you is at work when out in the water with these children.”
